OR joins hands with PMCU to install electric vehicle charging stations at various Siam Square-Samyan locations. Scheduled to be opened on December 1.

OR will be piloting to open charging stations outside its normal service station by choosing an important strategic point in the heart of the city under the management of the Property Management Office, Chulalongkorn University (PMCU), with the opening of 12 charging terminals through 4 charging stations, starting on December 1, 2021.

Mr. Chumphon Surapittayanon, Executive Vice President Commercial Marketing, PTT Oil and Retail Business Public Company Limited (OR), and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Wisanu Subsompon, Vice President for the Property and Physical Management Office, Chulalongkorn University, jointly witnessed the signing ceremony of an area utilization contract for the installation of electric charging stations between PTT Oil and Retail Business Public Company Limited by Mr. Chaiyapruit Watcharikupt, Manager of the State and Commercial Market Department, OR, and the Property Management Office, Chulalongkorn University (PMCU), by Mr. Worapong Sukteeranantachai, Director of PMCU, at the Chulalongkorn Centenary Park.

Mr. Chumphon Surapittayanon, Executive Vice President of Commercial Marketing, PTT Oil and Retail Business Public Company Limited, revealed that one of the Company’s business strategies is to strengthen its integrated energy business for mobility seamlessly, including creating options for a comprehensive lifestyle to meet every type of lifestyle, in addition to, developing PPT service stations into becoming a strong platform with a variety of products and services, including the opening of EV charging stations to serve the growing demand of electric vehicle users. OR also sees an opportunity to reach consumers outside the service stations by installing electric charging stations, “EV Station PluZ”, in commercial areas managed by the Property Management Office, Chulalongkorn University.

The chosen locations covers Siam Square and Samyan, and also includes SiamScape (newly opened building), Wittayakit Building (Chulalongkorn University Book Center), the Chulalongkorn Centennial, and the CU Sports Zone parking lot (Chula Soi 10-12). These locations will be installed with the 22 kW AC charger, which it will be able to provide 2 simultaneous charging, and a 7.4 kW AC charger 7.4 kW. Each area will be equipped with charging terminals that can support charging for 3 cars simultaneously and can be used via the “EV Station” application to facilitate consumers in terms of searching and navigating to the charging station, pre-bookings, manual turning on and off of the charger, online payment, and checking usage history, conveniently, quickly and accurately to support the increasing trends in consumer behavior in the new era that are shifting towards using electric cars. The Company is ready to seek cooperation with business partners to continuously expand the EV Station PluZ in order to increase the potential to best meet the diverse needs of consumers.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Wisanu Subsompon, Vice President for the Property and Physical Management Office, Chulalongkorn University, as the supervising office to the Property Management Office, revealed that PMCU has an idea to develop this Samyan Smart City area into a livable city by developing it into becoming an area that creates value for the community and society by combining quality of life and business and giving importance to the local people who live and use the services in the area, to ensure a good quality of life. It aims to achieve the highest benefits for the sustainable well-being for people of all genders and ages.

       It also focuses on other areas which include the development of the environment by paying close attention to air quality that will help create a good quality of life for everyone in the community. Therefore, there are also policies that support the creation of good air in several projects, one of them being the policy to promote the use of clean energy vehicles. Therefore, together with OR, the collaboration aims to develop and install electric charging stations in the 4 aforementioned areas to support the change in new energy forms for the future, thereby strengthening the capacity to respond to the clean energy trend. Moreover, the key factor is to promote the Samyan Smart City project for the benefit of local use and support in reducing environmental pollution and creating clean energy for the community.
